Jacek Przybyłowicz

Choreographer, graduate of the State Ballet School and the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw (ballet pedagogy). In the years 1987-1991, he was a dancer at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. His debut as a choreographer came with Negocjacje (Negotiations) set to the music of Alessandro Marcello.

He left Poland in 1991 and spent many years as a member of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel, where he worked with such choreographers as Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Jiři Kyliàn, Emanuel Gat, and Rami Beer. From 1994 till 2001, he performed with the KCDC at numerous prestigious contemporary dance festivals, visiting over50 countries, among others the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan. He has performed extensively in Europe and Poland, including a number of invitations from the Łódź Ballet Meetings. In 1997, he performed in the Batsheva Dance Company’s Kyr choreographed by Ohad Naharin, presented as part of the Yair Shapira Dance Prize. At that time he also collaborated with the Lambros Lambrou Dance Company, participating in a project presented around Europe. He returned to Poland in 2002 to produce Dove Necklace (2003) at the Polish Dance Theatre directed by Ewa Wycichowska. The following year he staged Barocco (2004) at the invitation of Biennale de la Danse in Lyon. He continued his collaboration with the Polish Dance Theatre with Jesień – Nuembir (2008).

Together with the Polish Dance Theatre and the Ballet of the Polish National Opera, he has presented his choreographies at many international dance festivals, including the Bolzanodanza Festival (Italy), Rencontres Choreographique de Cartage (Tunisia), the Moscow Dance Festival (Russia), Drugije Tancy (Ukraine), European Dance Festival (Cyprus), and the Kassel Tanz Festival (Germany).

From the 2009/2010 through the 2013/2014 season, he served as the deputy director for ballet at the Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theatre in Poznań. He is a member of the Programming Board for Dance at the Institute of Music and Dance.
